Parent teacher interviews are held in Summer Term. The objective of this event is to enable parents to gain an insight into the curriculum and co-curricular activities being offered during the year and to meet their son’s new teacher. Summer Term Meet the Teacher EveningĪ Meet the Teacher evening will be held in Summer Term. This is achieved through homework samples, reports, interviews and Student-Led Conferences. The College aims to keep parents informed of their son’s progress continually throughout the academic year. The reports will address the Western Australian Curriculum Standards and the Primary Years Programme: Approaches to Learning. In Years 1-5 students will receive a Semester 1 and a Semester 2 Report. Both year groups will also be assessed in relation to the Primary Years Programme: Approaches to Learning. The Kindergarten students reports will address the Early Years Learning Framework, whilst the Pre-Primary students will address the Western Australian Curriculum Standards. The Kindergarten and Pre-Primary students will receive a Semester 1 and a Semester 2 Report.
These interviews will focus on specific outcomes taken from the Early Years Learning Framework in conjunction with the Primary Years Programme: Approaches to Learning outcomes. In Pre-Kindergarten, the students will have Parent Teacher Interviews that replace a written report. Information in this report is based on the expectations of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, the Australian Curriculum for English and Mathematics learning areas and the Western Australian Curriculum Frameworks documents. As a school we strive to provide a differentiated programme, working with your son at his particular level of development. His report reflects development through all programmes at Scotch. The Junior School reports your son’s progress with written reports twice a year in conjunction with student, parent, and teacher interviews.
It is also offered to new students on entry in Year 4 and Year 5. Cognitive reasoningĪ Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) is carried out at the end of Year 3. Pre-Primary to Year 5 students undertake a VCOP (Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers and Punctuation) Cold Write assessment each term. Students in Years 4 and 5 participate in Renaissance Star Reading tests and quizzes each term. Readingįountas & Pinnell Reading Comprehension is completed in Pre-Primary to Year 3 (each term) and Years 4-5 (each semester). Tests for all year groups are drawn from the independently assessed, evidence-based PLD programmes (Promoting Literacy Development, founded by Diana Rigg) and the standardised and nationally recognised South Australian Spelling Test. In Years 1-5, spelling tests take place each term. In Pre-Primary, students undertake testing twice a year in phonemic awareness and sight words. For Kindergarten students, interviews are held at the request of the parent or teacher.Īustralian Council for Educational Research (ACER) Progressive Achievement Tests in Mathematics occur in Years 3-5. Mathematics Assessment Interviews take place at the beginning of each year in Pre-Primary and in Years 1-5. Students’ progress in Mathematics, Spelling, Reading and Writing is tracked and assessed throughout the academic year.
